GCA 2015 Award

BARRIGADA, GUAM – CMS Corporation’s project for the Retro-commissioning of 33 Facilities at Andersen AFB (AAFB), Guam has received a 2015 Guam Contractors Association (GCA) Excellence in Construction Award.

This project was selected for award in the “Federal Government/Military Less Than $10M” category. This $7.4M Design-Build project was highly rated by the Government, earning Very Good and Exceptional performance ratings in such areas as management, coordination, quality, and schedule.

The CMS-led Team completed retrofitting and commissioning of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) components in 33 facilities at AAFB, including HVAC ducts, duct air sensors, air-cooled condensing units, air handing units (AHUs), variable air volume (VAV) boxes, HVAC controls, instruments and gauges, direct digital controls (DDCs), air volume dampers, chillers, and chilled water pumps. The completed project will reduce utility expenditures by reducing energy and resource consumption. High-efficiency, low maintenance materials were utilized to obtain the desired energy savings and sustainability outcome. This project was completed in December 2014.

CEO Ernest Enrique noted, “This project demonstrates excellence in innovation, quality, communication, and safety. Our project team was very proactive in coordinating the work with all facility managers, which not only minimized operational impacts, but also improved overall quality, safety, and customer satisfaction with the finished project. With work being performed in 33 facilities, the CMS team often worked weekends and evenings to ensure we met each customer’s unique needs.”

The GCA awards banquet was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on November 6, 2015.
