MAUMEE, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS), an experienced DoD construction prime contractor, announced today it has been awarded a $32.2 million design-build project to convert Hangar F/20006 to a Program Executive Office (PEO) space at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), OH. The award was made under CMS’s Regional Engineering and Construction (RE&C) East Region prime contract with the Air Force.
Hangar F/20006, a WWII-era facility, is considered a historical structure, eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure to the Wright Field Historic District; therefore, maintenance of the hangar structure, features and aesthetics are paramount. CMS will design and renovate approximately 37,340 SF of existing space and provide a new 2nd floor within the open hangar, for a combined total of approximately 60,000 SF of office space. At a minimum, this project will support a 300-person mission at the base.
Midwest-based architect/engineering firm American Structurepoint is teamed with CMS for the design effort. The PEO space will be designed, constructed and certified as meeting High Performance and Sustainable Building Standards.
Company CEO Ernest Enrique noted, “CMS has a long and successful history working at Air Force installations across the continental US, Hawaii, and Guam, and in particular at Wright-Patterson AFB. This project represents our fourth major award at this base under our current RE&C East Region contract. Additional projects being executed at WPAFB at this time include dormitory renovations, high temperature/hot water and steam line repairs, and HVAC work. We look forward to working with the Air Force to deliver another top-quality project to support the Base mission.”
This project is expected to be completed in 2 years. The Air Force Installation Contracting Agency (AFICA) is the contracting activity.
