Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS), in a joint venture (JV) with Jack Wayte Construction, called Jack Wayte CMS JV, announced today that it has been awarded its first project under the Air Force $15 billion Small Business Construction & Engineering (C2E) Contract, a $20.7M task order to repair nearly 10 miles of Coast Road on Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) in California.
Located along the Pacific Coast, VSFB is home to several space flight launch pads, playing a critical role in the area. Under this project, the JV will repair Coast Road, an access route to the Base’s space launch complexes and facilities. It also serves as a commercial vehicle haul route for the Base and heavy equipment transport. Asphalt paving work on this 2-lane road will be performed in a continuous south-to-north milling, full-depth reclamation, patching, and overlay operation. This south-to-north progression is a central feature of the JV’s construction strategy, providing continuity of operations, while allowing paving crews, support equipment, trucking, traffic control, and quality control personnel to move through the corridor in a coordinated and efficient manner.
