Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation announced today that CMS K.K. (CMS), a wholly owned Japanese subsidiary of CMS Corporation, has been awarded a $2.6 million design-build Add Generator to the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Facility B782 project at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. This project is being issued under the $1 billion US Air Force Okinawa Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC).
The scope of work for this project includes replacing the facility’s existing manual transfer switch with a new Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). Work includes abandoning the current whole-building backup generator installation, connecting the updated system to the existing electrical infrastructure, and performing all testing and verification to meet industry standards. The project also requires asbestos and lead-based paint (LBP) surveys and abatement in accordance with Japan Environmental Governing Standards, OSHA, and EPA regulations. The PMEL facility ensures precise calibration and maintenance of critical measurement equipment essential to base-wide and regional operations, supporting the Base’s role as a major hub for U.S. Air Force missions throughout the Pacific.
“CMS is proud to continue supporting Kadena Air Base operations in the Pacific with reliable, high‑quality infrastructure solutions. This award is CMS’ fourth recent award under the Okinawa MACC,” said Ernest Enrique, Chairman & CEO at CMS Corporation.
