MAUMEE, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS), an experienced DoD construction prime contractor, announced today that it has been awarded the $34.7 million P-400 Submarine Refit Maintenance Support Facility at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in Silverdale, WA. The project award was made under CMS’s $240 million NAVFAC Northwest Multiple Award Construction prime contract (MACC).
For this design-bid-build project, CMS will construct a 24,000-square-foot (SF) low-rise, steel-framed, reinforced concrete masonry and blast-hardened waterfront support facility, as well as a 15,000-SF upland general purpose storage facility, at NB Kitsap-Bangor. The Base mission is to serve as the host command for the Navy’s fleet throughout West Puget Sound and provide support to submarines, aircraft carriers and surface ships home ported at Bremerton and Bangor. The Base also provides services, facilities and programs for the war-fighting commands, tenant activities, crew, service school and employees on Base.
Once completed, this project will consolidate operations on the pier and expand shops and upland capabilities closer to the point of use in support of the Base mission. The facility will not only increase capability, but also minimize the time and resources needed to coordinate production workers, tools, and equipment.
Company CEO Ernest Enrique noted, “CMS has a longstanding partnership with the Navy, having successfully completed many projects at naval installations in the continental US, Hawaii and Guam. This marks our first task order award under the NAVFAC Northwest Mega MACC. We are thrilled to have this large task order award and look forward to working with the Navy to deliver an on time, high quality facility.”
This project will be performed in five phases and is expected to be completed by June 2021. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest in Silverdale, WA is the contracting activity.
