Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation, a leading provider of construction management services, is pleased to announce the award of a significant $43 million design-build contract for the rehabilitation of Runway 15C/33C and Overruns 15R/33L at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB), TX. This contract was awarded under CMS’s Air Force Regional Engineering & Construction (RE&C) Central Region contract.
Sheppard AFB, a critical training base for both military and commercial air operations, will benefit from CMS’s expertise in airfield engineering and construction. The project scope includes full-depth reclamation of asphalt airfield pavement and aggregate base, installation of new hot-mix asphalt (HMA) surfacing, and the implementation of a new runway sub-drainage system along the entire length of Runway 15C/33C. We will also construct new 10-foot-wide asphalt shoulders along each side of the runway and replace airfield lighting components. Because portions of the airfield will remain active throughout the project, CMS will diligently execute this project through strategic scheduling to minimize airfield closures, allow proper phasing to adjust traffic operations, and complete work within the allocated closure periods.
“Investing in the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure like Sheppard AFB’s runways is crucial for maintaining operational readiness and safety,” said Ernest Enrique, Chairman and CEO of CMS Corporation. “This project highlights CMS’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions that support our nation’s defense capabilities.“
