MADRID, SPAIN and BARGERSVILLE, IN, USA – CMS Corporation (CMS), in a joint venture with ACCIONA Construccion, S.A. (ACCIONA), announced today it has been awarded a $23 million Expeditionary Maintenance Facility project at Naval Station (NS) Rota under the U.S. Navy’s $500 million NS Rota MACC. The ACCIONA CMS JV (JV) is one of only seven firms holding the NS Rota MACC. This project is the JV’s second task order awarded under the Rota MACC, following the $17 million Port Operations Facility project.
Under this task order, the JV will construct a new Expeditionary Maintenance Facility to replace the existing maintenance facility at the Camp Mitchell Site of NS Rota. The facility to be built will include vehicle maintenance, a boat maintenance shop, and support administration and shop spaces, all in support of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) and Underwater Construction Team (UCT). Additionally, the JV will demolish the current Vehicle Maintenance Shop, Vehicle Wash Facility, and Boat Storage Facility. In order to accommodate displaced operations, the JV will make interior renovations within the existing Public Works Storage Facility.
CMS Chairman and CEO, Ernest Enrique, PE, stated, “We are thrilled to be entrusted with our second task order at NS Rota under the $500 million NS Rota MACC. We look forward to collaborating with our joint venture partner, ACCIONA, to execute these projects, and to do our part to serve the base mobile and underwater construction mission.”
