MAUMEE, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS), an experienced Department of Defense construction and bulk fuels prime contractor, announced today it has been awarded an $11.6 million project to repair multiple aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) at Andersen AFB, Guam. Under this project, CMS will make a wide range of repairs to three ASTs containing JP-8 jet fuel. Each 100,479 BBL (4.2M gallon) tank stands 24-feet high with a 173-foot diameter. All of the tanks are currently in service.

The scope of work will include tank cleaning prior to repairs, internal and exterior coating repairs using a 3-coat system, and specified repair/replacement of corroded or worn vents, manways, pumps, vents, valves, drains, gauges, flanges, strapping, name plates and labeling, piping, stairs, roofs, tank floors, etc. During the project, only one tank can be taken out of service at a time. CMS will perform a full API 653 out-of-service inspection on each tank after all repairs have been completed and certify each tank fit for return to service.

The U.S. Air Force awarded this project to CMS – a prime contract holder under the $2.5 billion Worldwide Engineering and Construction multiple award contract. Company CEO Ernest Enrique noted, “CMS has a 10-year history of excellence working on Guam. We have successfully completed over $100 million in new construction, renovation and bulk fuels work for our Air Force and Navy clients at this strategic location.
