BARGERSVILLE, IN — CMS Corporation (CMS) has been awarded a $10.3 million mechanical contract by Pepper Construction Company for Purdue University’s Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital project at their West Lafayette, Indiana campus. Purdue is constructing three new facilities as part of this project: 1) a small animal hospital, 2) a large animal hospital, and 3) a farm animal hospital. These 3 facilities total 165,000 sq. ft. on a 13-acre site. This project is a LEED 4.0 project.
CMS’s scope of work encompasses Building Information Modeling (BIM) services, the installation of all HVAC systems (including 14 large custom air handing units designed for healthcare environments), hydronic and steam piping, ductwork, and the facility management system. CMS will also be responsible for supplying temporary systems for heating, cooling, and dehumidification within the facilities during the construction period. The construction period is estimated to be 16 months.
CMS, an Indiana-based minority business enterprise (MBE), competed against three other mechanical contractors for the win. CMS’s Chief Executive Officer, Ernest Enrique, noted, “CMS offered strategic value propositions for this project. This is a tremendous project for our firm and continues to bring high visibility to CMS in the animal healthcare market and to a key prime contractor partner, Pepper Construction Company.”
