BARGERSVILLE, IN USA and MADRID, SPAIN – ACCIONA CMS JV announced it has been awarded a $17.2 million project to construct Port Operations Facilities at Naval Station (NS) Rota, Spain. This is the initial task order (or seed project) awarded to the JV under the US Navy’s $500 million Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) at Rota, Spain.

For this project, the JV will construct a 3-story Port Operations Facility that will serve as a consolidated compound for intermodal management and port operations at NS Rota. The building will include a small craft maintenance high bay area, workshops, storage areas, an oil spill response area, a hazardous supply & waste storage area, bunk rooms, locker & shower rooms, a conference room, and office spaces, as well as an administrative suite to accommodate Spanish Port Operations personnel and functions. The JV will also construct a Harbor Control Tower to house equipment and work areas, as well as a Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) with offices, conference and training rooms, and a QA testing room.

Project completion is expected in Summer 2024. The JV is also currently bidding additional task orders under the Rota MACC, including a large hangar renovation and construction of an expeditionary maintenance facility and a new Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) maintenance shop and storage facility, with a combined value in the range of $65 million to $80 million.

Ernest Enrique, CEO of CMS Corporation, noted, “The JV is pleased to receive this first task order award under the Rota MACC. We look forward to the opportunity to partner with the Navy to safely deliver a high quality, timely and on budget Port Operations Facility that will support the NS Rota mission for years to come.”

ACCIONA CMS JV is a joint venture (JV) between Indiana-based CMS Corporation (CMS) and Madrid-based ACCIONA.
