Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS) announced today that it has been awarded a $9.4M project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Detroit District for the Soo Lock Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project in Sault Ste Marie, MI. This project, awarded under CMS’s existing USACE Great Lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD) Regional Construction D-B/DBB MATOC contract, underscores CMS’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions in partnership with the Corps.
On this project, CMS will construct a new sanitary sewer system at the Soo Locks Facility, a critical infrastructure site that plays a vital role in the Great Lakes navigation system. CMS will construct grinder pump stations, open-cut and directional drilled force mains, and open-cut service laterals, ensuring the system is modernized to meet current and future needs. Electrical power and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems will be installed to enhance operational efficiency, while valve and metering facilities will be integrated to improve system functionality. The project also includes the demolition of existing septic systems and the replacement of plumbing fixtures in facility buildings, ensuring the infrastructure is upgraded to meet contemporary standards.
“A unique aspect of this contract is the archaeological monitoring required in the Canal Park work area, which reflects the historical significance of the site. At CMS, we are committed to preserving the integrity of this area, while delivering the project with precision and care,” said Ernest Enrique, Chairman/CEO at CMS. “We are honored to continue our strong partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.”
