Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation (CMS) today announced it has earned a National Safety Pinnacle Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), which was presented at the 34th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards during ABC Convention 2024 in Orlando, Florida, on March 14.
CMS received the Pinnacle Award for their unwavering commitment to workplace safety year after year, since the company’s re-incorporation in 2004. The Pinnacle Award was presented to only 20 contractors nationwide; truly the ‘cream of the crop,’ as designated by ABC.
“We absolutely believe it to be our duty to ensure our Team Members return home safely after every shift,” stated CMS Chairman and CEO, Ernest Enrique. “Safety has always been our number one core value at CMS, and our dedicated and talented Team Members exemplify this value day in and day out.”
During the 2023 National Safety Excellence Award selection process, contractors were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable incident rates, leading indicator use, process and program innovations, and interviews conducted by members of ABC’s National Health and Safety Committee.
“Health and safety are core values for CMS, deeply integrated into the company’s actions and decision-making processes,” said 2024 National Chair of the ABC Board of Directors Buddy Henley, president, Henley Construction Co. Inc., Gaithersburg, Maryland. “CMS does not compromise on safety, relentlessly ensuring every employee arrives and leaves the job site in the same or better condition every day. Among the NSEA winners are several ABC Top Performers, which demonstrates the positive impact of implementing strong safety programs.
