Maumee, OH – CMS Corporation, an established construction contractor serving the Department of Defense, announced today the award of a $22.5 million project at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The project to repair Tanks A-18 and A-23 was awarded under the Worldwide Engineering and Construction (WE&C) contract with the Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC). CMS has been awarded over $100 million of fuels work on the island of Guam alone.
Work under this project includes the repair of two tanks containing JP-8 jet fuel. One is a 125,000-BBL (5.25 million-gallon) aboveground tank, and the other, an underground “cut-and-cover” 100,479-BBL (4.2 million-gallon) tank. Both tanks will be taken out of service, emptied, and cleaned to allow for various repairs. Once the CMS team completes repairs, they will blast and coat the tanks and perform an API 653 out-of-service inspection.
“We are honored to continue our longstanding relationship fulfilling the construction needs of the United States Air Force at Andersen AFB,” stated CMS Chairman and CEO, Ernest Enrique. “Celebrating over $100 million in fuels work on-island is a privilege reflective of our commitment to excellence and dedication to serving those who serve our nation.”
