Maumee, OH and Alamogordo, NM – RM Builders, a joint venture (JV) between experienced Department of Defense general contractor CMS Corporation and New Mexico-based protégé Jack Wayte Construction (JWC), announced it has been awarded two projects under the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Omaha FSRM Small Business Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC). CMS has been a mentor to JWC, an 8(a) and Woman-owned Small Business, under the US Small Business Administration 8(a) Mentor-Protégé Program since 2015.
The first award is a $900k task order to replace kitchen drain piping and the second is a $2.5M task order to replace water mains. Both projects are at Fort Carson, CO. Activities under the $900k task order include removing and replacing kitchen drain piping and saw cutting to remove and replace cast iron pipes. This job is anticipated to be complete in late March 2022. The $2.5M task order is a design-bid-build project to demolish and replace water mains, including the removal of buried obstacles such as reinforced concrete, as well as reroute the proposed water main alignment to avoid damaging existing communications cables and/or ductbanks. This project will take roughly one year to complete.
CMS CEO, Ernest Enrique, stated, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to continue work with our protégé, Jack Wayte Construction, and perform this work at Fort Carson. The JV is currently executing other awarded work at Minot Air Force Base, ND and Schriever Space Force Base, CO under this Omaha Small Business MATOC. The RM Builders JV will continue to provide a superior client experience with on-time, exceptional results.”
