CMS was awarded a $54M task order to construct the P260 P-8A Aircraft Airfield at Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island, WA. CMS replaced the taxiway, shoulders and runway, increasing concrete depth and constructing a peripheral taxiway to support aircraft loading of homeported P-8A and C-40 aircraft. The project also included electrical lighting replacement, stormwater system repairs, and installation of an oil water separator.
This work will improve capabilities at NAS Whidbey, which is in the US Navy’s third largest fleet concentration area. The Base is home to 20 active-duty US Navy Squadrons and 3 US Navy Reserve Squadrons. The air station also maintains a search-and-rescue unit providing 24-hour maritime, inland and mountainous rescue support for DoD personnel and the greater Pacific Northwest community.
