CMS was awarded a $31M project to clean and repair two 125,000-BBL (5.25M gallon) aboveground JP-8 fuel tanks at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Work included repairing corroded stairs and platforms, pipe supports, receipt and issue lines, manways, roofs, nozzles, nuts and bolts, ATG displacers, and cleanouts. CMS also replaced joint sealants, installed new floors and aluminum maintenance platforms, and installed a new concrete base. The tank coatings contained hexavalent chromium and lead which required abatement before the tanks can be blasted and coated on the inside and outside. Upon completion, tanks will be returned to service to support the mission of Andersen Air Force Base.
